Loyola U Chapel Series
Loyola University Chicago invites you to attend its 2003-2004 Chapel Series, in which nine distinguished speakers provide a substantive, prayerful consideration of the challenges to faith in modern society. The next speaker is David O’Brien, Ph. D.. His talk is entitled, “”What’s Love Got to Do With It? The Politics of an American Catholic Vocation.”" A professor of Roman Catholic Studies at the College of the Holy Cross, O’Brien specializes in the history of American Catholicism. Among his books are “”Public Catholicism: American Catholics in Public Life”" and “”Isaac Hecker: An American Catholic,”" named the best book on the history of Catholicism by the American Catholic Historical Association. David O’Brien is a Leo High School graduate. The talk will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2004 in Loyola’s Madonna della Strada Chapel. Following the service there will be a reception, and an opportunity to meet the speaker.
