St. Gertrude Lenten Calendar 2004 |
| Lent invites us to make private prayer and meditation a regular habit during its 6 week voyage toward Easter, daily if possible. To help out, we are offering each parishioner a small book entitled The Little Black Book: 6-Minute Reflections on the Weekly Gospels of Lent. It is available in the back of church or at the rectory. We are also providing a variety of communal prayer experiences in order to help you keep this holy season. Hopefully you will find at least one of the following opportunities convenient and meaningful. |
Daily Mass - Monday thru Friday, 7am & 9am; Saturday, 8am, Church.
The Rosary - Monday thru Friday, 8:45am; Saturday, 8:30am, Church.
Wednesday Evening Simple Supper / Mass - A mid-week call to prayer and, for those who are fasting, a time to break-fast at a communal and sacramental meal.
March 3, 10, 17 & 24. Supper, 6pm, Social Hall, Mass, 7pm, Church.
Communal Reconciliation Service - Wednesday, March 31st 7:30pm, Church.
We ask for and receive forgiveness amidst song and reflection.
Friday Stations of the Cross - 2:30-2:50pm, Church.
Enter into the Passion of our Lord’s crucifixion through this time-honored Lenten prayer.
One Time Events:
February 27th - 24-hour Prayer Vigil, asking God to re-kindle in us the zeal to Spread the Good News. Sign up or just come to church any time, from 9am mass on Friday to 9am Saturday morning.
March 4th - Friendship Club — Morning of Recollection for seniors, 9am to 1pm.
March 21st - Special musical vespers with piano and flute, 4:00pm.
March 27th - A Parish Experience, 8am to 3pm. Come explore the movement from fear to faith as modeled by Jesus through his passion, death and resurrection. All parishioners are welcome.
Faith Sharing Groups - These groups meet weekly to consider more deeply what it means to be a follower of Jesus today, using the Sunday Gospels as a starting point. Morning & evening groups are forming. Please call the rectory for details, 773/764-3621.
