Dear St. Gertrude - December 4, 2005

  • I’m glad you could make it to the bazaar. It is a great deal of work for a great number of people and it always comes out quite nicely. Everything from the pancake breakfast to the white elephant sale provides quite a setting for an Advent celebration.
  • We have been interviewing candidates for the director of music job. We have had such stability here for so many years that we have been spoiled. William Coble had been here for about 15 years and we have been so blessed by his leadership and talent. We now are moving on to a new moment. We have spoken to four very good candidates. We will make our decision soon. Meanwhile the Christmas Masses and programs will be handled by people from the parish.
  • Northside Catholic Academy is having quite a good year. We have found a wonderful balance between book-reading and basketball, prayer and personal growth. The children find the two campuses happy places and the diversity seems to be the perfect blend for work and play. The two principals Sabrina Roy and Debbie Sullivan have worked very hard and given their hearts to N.C.A. The principal evaluation is taking place now and the process is a valuable part of building a great school.
  • Fr. Tim Duckworth who has done such a marvelous job here will be going back to New Zealand come March 6. He will spend January in Europe and February back here. His help during my absence, his general good cheer, and the lectures called Catholicism 101 in the Institute, all get rave reviews.

Go Bears,
WK
