A few weeks ago, 60 Minutes, Andy Rooney addressed how the federal “No Child Left Behind”law has changed the way many schools teach - focusing their efforts on Reading and Math because those are the subjects on national exams. Many schools are dropping subjects like art, history and music. “We’re going to raise a generation of cultural idiots” exclaimed Rooney. I’d love to have Andy Rooney visit NCA! Especially on the day we had “Opera for the Young”, or at the Geography Bee, or any day our students participate in weekly Mass. I’d be so proud to walk with him down our halls viewing the students’ artwork, listening to the signing from the music room, seeing enthusiastic children in every classroom. Rest assured, no cultural idiots graduate from NCA
