From Francis Cardinal George

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, it is my privilege to wish you and your families a very happy Christmas season and a New Year filled with peace, good health, and happiness. The birth of a baby is always a cause for joy; the birth of the Savior of the World, the Prince of Peace and King of Kings, all the more so. It is my prayer for each of you that you will personally experience the joy of Christmas in a way that will increase your desire to know and serve the Lord more intensely in the year to come.

This past year for me was one that drew me closer to the Lord in ways that I never could have predicted last Christmas. Because of my surgery for cancer, I came to appreciate in a new way how closely this world touches the next. It also made me much more aware that, in this world and the next, life is a network of relationships that are connected through our prayers for each other and have their foundation in God. I am grateful for your prayers.

Let us continue to pray for each other and for all those areas in our world that so badly need the peace that only Christ can bring. You and all your needs and concerns will be in my own prayers. Thank you for your life of faith, and may God bless you abundantly in 2007.
